Maybe the cosplayers aren't so much concerned about the effect of sunlight on themselves. Maybe they're worried about other people seeing them in bright sunlight. Perhaps they're tired of causing shrieks of horror, eyes bleeding, panic at the disco, cats and dog living together, mass hysteria.
Don't get me wrong. You look fine as the samurai guy. Having the right build and avoiding spandex helps.
